My last post was about my mom, and this one is in a way. I’ve been somewhat out of it for the last few days, but hadn’t really noticed it until today. The weather was amazing this morning, but being outside on this lovely spring day didn’t evoke any positive feelings within me. The sun was just too bright, the grass too green and the blooming flowers too vivid.

I’m in a gloomy mood, and I much prefer the gloomy weather that we had over the weekend to today’s idyllic spring scene.

Here’s a quick fun fact for you: When you don’t have much traffic coming to your website, sending a link to your online portfolio  on internship and job applications gives your metrics a nice boost.

Here’s a quick fun fact for you: Including the words “Sketchy’s,” “black,” and “people” in a blog post can lead to your site showing up in unexpected Google searches.

Here’s the story. Every so often, I check out my site’s analytics to figure out what terms are used when the site shows up in a search. On March 13th, I published a post about taking photos at the Dr. Sketchy’s St. Louis Black in Action! session back in February. When I checked the queries for the last few days, the number one query for my site (with my site’s average position of 7.6 in the search results) was sketchy black people.

Today, I have to start and/or finish editing the hundreds of photos that I’ve taken over the last few weeks, shoot more photos in The Grove, do some more editing, work on my homework for my classes tomorrow and edit more photos. So much to do. So little time. I hope that I don’t get too distracted by the loveliness of this spring day…
